What your tenant sees when paying, and how automatic rent works

Landlords › Getting paid

Your tenant's side

After accepting the lease, the tenant opens My Lease, chooses Pay Rent, and pays by PayTo or bank direct debit. The $3.50 fee is shown as a separate line. Pay Rent only appears once you have connected your bank, so connect it first. See Connect your bank account.

Automatic rent

The tenant can choose the regular direct debit option once. From then on rent is debited each period automatically. Your tenancy hub's Automatic rent card shows when they have set it up.

Both of you are notified of each payment, and of any that fail (a bank debit can bounce for insufficient funds or a cancelled agreement).

Where you see it

Every payment appears in the Rent Ledger. See Reading the Rent Ledger.
