Change the details
On the tenancy hub choose Edit tenancy details. It opens the same five steps as when you set it up: Property, Tenant, Lease terms, Documents and Review. Change what you need (for example the rent, the end date or a co-tenant) and choose Save changes.
The property cannot be changed on an existing tenancy. If it is the wrong property, end this tenancy and set up a new one.
How a tenancy's status works
The tenancy list and hub show a status that follows the dates:
- Awaiting tenant: the tenant has not accepted yet.
- Starts soon: the start date is in the future.
- Active: running now.
- Ending soon: the end date is within 30 days.
- Ended: the end date has passed.
Renew or extend
There is no separate "Renew" button. To extend a fixed-term tenancy, edit the end date in Lease terms. To move to a rolling arrangement, change What kind of agreement is this? to Month-to-month (periodic).
End a tenancy
A tenancy ends when its end date passes. To end it earlier, edit the end date to the day it finishes.
Good practice at the end: record an Exit condition report so you have evidence for any bond claim. See Create an entry condition report.
Delete on the edit screen is only for a tenancy created by mistake. Do not use it to end a real tenancy, because it removes the record.
Notice periods and bond rules differ by state. EZRENT does not issue notices or give legal advice, so check your local rental authority.
